My archery journey began more than 20 years ago with recurve archery. Over those years, I've enjoyed the challenges of learning, improving and developing my shooting technique.
More recently, I decided to take on a new challenge — competitive compound target archery.
Rather than simply shooting for enjoyment, I wanted to see how far I could progress as a Masters archer, competing against other experienced archers in New Zealand.
And I wanted to do it without spending a fortune on equipment.
Brook Valley Life documents that journey, including my training, competitions, equipment choices, successes and the inevitable setbacks along the way.
My goal is to become one of New Zealand's best Masters compound target archers.
I'm not a professional archer, and I'm not using the most expensive equipment available.
Instead, I'm exploring how much improvement is possible through consistent practice, equipment setup, testing and learning from experience.
Along the way, I share what works, what doesn't and the lessons that might help other archers improve their own shooting.
For me, archery isn't just about winning competitions. It's about enjoying the process of becoming a better archer.
